Here in the West, most karters race with the CIK bodywork like this:

It seems like a lot of the Oval and Sprint classes run these back east:

There are a handful of the lower HP racers (KT-100, Briggs) in this area that run the full aero type bodies with good success but so do the CIK "pod" style of bodywork.. Does anyone here have experience with both that can give some reasons why one might be better than the other and under what circumstances?

Thanks in advance..

DD

Aftermarket part submission? How?

Hello, I will have the bugs out of an aftermarket ignition controller that utilizes a stock OEM coil and armature. The unit is capable of either static or three "stage" advance - 0/15/30 for example. What is the process to submit a product for F200 use? And.... What is required to submit an engine, in the same manner as Burris/Yamaha - say Mitsubishi/Me- for F200 use? Frankly things change so fast over there I don't keep up.

2006 rule 9.10 Flywheel and Ignition Coil: Aftermarket or OEM flywheels permitted. If OEM flywheel is used it must be unaltered and meet minimum listed weight the stock OEM coil (ignition system) must be used. Approved aftermarket flywheels only may be used. Spec diameter and weight as follows; 6.75” +/ .25”dia. X 4.75 lbs +/ .75 lbs. When using aftermarket flywheels, any approved OEM F200 coil may be used on any engine. (i.e. Briggs coil on a Honda, Tecumseh coil on a Kohler, etc) External coil modifications to facilitate mounting are legal. Coil mounts, flywheel key, spark plug boots and plug wires are non tech items. See below for approved flywheels.

Does the new Briggs flywheel meet the 4.75 lb weight requirement? I don't know.... Weight it before you buy it.

I would assume the PVL Ingition will be approved since it's a OEM coil.

What’s Happening In F200?????

<?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Lot’s of new and exciting things are going on in F200 and 2007 really looksto be a breakout year for the program! Rich Domenick made the suggestion that I run a restrictor plate to even the field. Anybody know which would be better or fair, weight or plate? Being at Naugles gave him a comfort zone that enabled him to start to run his Kohler F200 the way I knew he could run.

Well this past weekend was an off week at Naugles so we returned to Goodhope with one minor change. Insted of my son running with the Jrs I jumped behind the wheel with the Goodhope F200 Pros. I was a bit nervous to say the least but my son and I agreed that it was time for old dad to find out what exactly he goes thru every week. I did not set any records but ran well enough to have several people comment that I did well for my first time behind the wheel.

This has lead my son and I to talk about adding to our race team. In 2007 KJM Racing will still have Tyler Rector as out "Title" driver but Tyler will have a team mate behind the wheel of a Kohler Mule powered #70 driven by me.

F200 racing is AMAZING!!!!!! I can't wait till next season to be out on the track with my son!!! I am sure that he will be teaching the old man a few things but I am more than ready to learn!!!!

Thanks Burris and tracks in our area like Naugles, Goodhope, and Blanket Hill for suporting F200's.

Cool can

Saw a plastic can on a car at the car show last week with the fuel line passing through he said he puts dry ice in it to cool the fuel, he said it atomizes the fuel better OK

Doest it make the engine run better, cooler or faster?

Junior lll Hooked On F200

Here is a copy of an email we received over the weekend from one of the Goodhope Junior lll F200 racers. The plate in question use has been modified from a PCV plate to act as stud girdle. The welded on washers act to prevent the rocker studs from moving. Rule 9.12 includes the statement “No other alterations to original configuration permitted” Since the head doesn’t have a stud girdle one can’t be added. The PCV plate is a standard item on the head and is a legal part. The modifications make it illegal because the modifiation change the intend purpose of the plate. The longer rocker studs are OK and the plate with clearance holes for rocker studs would be ok. But modifying the plate to hold the studs is not legal.

<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Rule 9:12 Valve Train: Push rods, push rod guide plates, retainers, springs, keepers, rocker adjusters, etc, non tech. Cylinder head repair. Each Engine will be allowed an approved area on the intake and exhaust tracts for external repair of broken through “thin cross sections” while porting if deemed necessary. The area shall be no greater than a .5” (1/2”) square and either welding or epoxy is acceptable. This matter was submitted to the various approved engine suppliers in late 2004 for consideration and to date the only “official” response has been from Yamaha. At this time the only approved repair is for the YF200 R1 intake port in the area shown in the photo. The final wording may change and others will be added as necessary.

Memo Gidley and Secrets of Speed on F200’s

Memo Gidley and Jeff Grist have put together another great book in their “Memo Gidley’s Secrets of Speed” series entitled “Four Cycle Kart Racing”. Click on this link (http://www.mgspeedsecrets.com/F200/) to get the low down on Yamaha’s new YF200 R1 kart engine. The rest of the book is chock full of articles on set ups and driving and in my opinion is one of the most factual and relevant books to date on these subjects. The book deals mainly with sprint racing but many of the tips and suggestions in Secrets of Speed carry over to oval racing and bring up a lot of ideas and tips that are not common knowledge in that group.

Needed Part numbers for the differant Engines

I am wanting to build all the types of engines except the Yahama (got one )and a briggs ,,,,
NEEDING the part numbers and so forth
kolher what's the engine code for a dual bearing steel bore and so on
Tec,,,whats that one as well
Has i see it this is one of the things that is lacking in this series.
I started the theads on Bob's Site as well

Anyway if a guy is wanting to work on a Honda and wants to make sure he is buying a dual bearing steel bore or if he wants a cool bore to put a LA Sleeve in one
well i think most of you get the point .....its like going to Sm*Eng* warehouse if anyone has got a better way lets here it

JUST post the codes and helpful info thanks
mainly it is the block code and telling you if its a

dual bearing and steel and an alumiunm bore

IN short these numbers need to be POSTED to help the sport ............
Here is another point in hand a head cost 32 buck for a briggs f-200 a W/F head is 130 buck get my point if we can get all the numbers up everybody save HARD CORE CASH Just ONE more reason to FLY F-200..........

Burris Camp is there a way that you all could post each engine part numbers on here leave it at that Where a new guy could pull up a set of part numbers and go from there

I know this interfears with the yamaha sells but as a series and F-200 Format it would help the new builders.......

Make it where know one can change the numbers and so on if there is a problem i am sure some one will let you know LOL.....

Thanks jh for got to type at the start of each build type put the build sheet that way it is always at the top or first to look at for veiwing

F200's in the Southeast

We have received many calls inquiring about the F200 class that ran the South Carolina Burris Winter Nationals at Sunshine Raceway on Nov. 12th. People were amazed with the power and reliability and according to Cooter and Rowdy Jordan every time they went on the track spectators lined the fences! The F200's also ran with the Animal Limiteds and made a respectable showing with one of them (Roger Padgett on an F200 for the first time) finishing a 3rd behind the winner.
Rowdy sent me an email on what a show they put on and here is a quote from it;

"I was truly impressed with the F200. That was the first time I had seen one on the track, and WOW! The trick will again be getting these guys down here to understand the benefits of such a program."

From the response we have received so far it looks like they already see the benefits.
Great job. I know this setup doesn't use the high cross setup like the flat heads class does, so help!! What is a good setup for numbers with the narrow wheels? Air pressures also and what is a good temp range on the 33's? I know the forum changed and there was a discussion about percentages to use, but their gone now. Give me some ideas for senior class at 360#.... thanks..

Yamaha F200 vs. Animal F200 (and other engines)

Anybody have any thoughts or experience with the Aninmal (in F200 configuration) vs. the Yamaha YF-200?
